[Current Music |Some song out of Joseph...]

I should probably post this on MySpace, since I now actually use that site lol, and my blog currently has no entries...but never mind, I like LJ, even if no-one ever reads it! (Part from Kess lol **LJ BUDDIES!**)

So just got back from Katherine's party, twas muy fun! The rainbow colours were amazing!! And Anna's face-painting was pretty wicked too; I thought about asking her to paint my face but I never got round to it xD She did Ross as a tiger and drew a sun on Naomi...and what else she did some cool swirly things round Leona's eyes, and random green stripes on Katherine's face, cos she was on the green team! And she gave David a blue moustache and an orange beard, and some massive pilot goggles hehehehehe xD
There were several spillages, including coke and doritos and soil (from a potted plant..no really!) but we don't talk about that...lol. Nah, bit of water and kitchen roll and a trusty hoover and we're sorted.
And of course we watched Any Dream Will Do (the latter part of it anyway, in my case), and I have to say Ant's song was MUCH better this week, much more suited to his voice. I can't believe they got rid of Johndeep!!!! Chris is so not better than him. He can't act to save his life and his teeth scare me lol, not that we should judge Josephs on their teeth but they really do!
It was really good to see everyone; there were millions of people there some of whom I didn't know, but I had no idea how many people Katherine had invited! Crazy. But I was very impressed with how many presents were either rainbow-themed in themselves or had rainbow coloured wrapping. I'm afraid mine doesn't go into either of those categories, but never mind. And the chocolate fondue is worth a mention, and also the AMAZING Skittle and M&M display, all separated into rainbow order, it was so awesome. Must have taken an age, but I'm sure it was no trouble for someone as obsessive compulsive as Katherine is when it comes to order xD (that, for the record, was meant in the lovliest way possible, especially as I am just as anal myself lol!)

Got driven there and back by Alice which was very exciting =D I love going places with just friends in the car, it's so liberating. Was a bit scary when some wanker pulled out in front of us on the roundabout, but luckily Alice has lightning-fast reflexes so we didn't die! Which is good. Heh. We enjoyed being able to have free conversation without parent-filters on the way there, which included a discussion of swearwords though I'm not quite sure why...? We did try discussing the weather instead, but got bored after about 2 sentences so went back to swearing. Lol I love how mature we are...xD

Anyway it's 00:19am so I should probably go to bed, especially if I want to get up in time for my singing lesson tomorrow. I know it's not til 3pm and I never sleep in past 10, but still! Nighty night everybody xxxxxxx

[Current Music |MCR - Thank You for the Venom]

I really really hate exams.
No, I mean I REALLY REALLY hate exams.
A lot.
Very much.
More than you can possibly imagine.

I wish I could fall asleep and not wake up until exams are over, that would be good! As long as I could wake up for parties and things of course! Cos there's Hannah's and Katherine's and Catherine's to think about before exams end.
I hope Katherine's present arrives on time =S It's being shipped from Australia and I've had an e-mail from the guy saying he dispatched it but...eep! Her party's on the 21st of April I think so FINGERS CROSSED it will be here before then! I know she doesn't really read LJ but I won't say what it is just in case! (It's only half of her present anyway, the other half I already have cos I got it in Norway heee!)
In other news, and speaking of eBay (where I got K's present), I am very impressed with both my amazing new bags =D My fantastical school bag, which everyone else seems to also think is very cool, and my non-school backpack which is very funky also, but not quite as capacious. As one might expect!

Uuughgghghh I don't want to do my coursework and my key questions and learn vocab and everything. Mur. I basically have to learn all my key questions for French and Spanish AND revise shitloads of vocab because there's no guarantee the examiner will ask the questions on the sheet. In fact, there's almost a certain guarantee that he won't. Hence my asking Miss Smith if we could do bullet points of ideas for State & the Individual instead of paragraph answers to each question....but the answer was no, we have to do paragraphs, "because that's how we've always done it." Yes, but we've always had internal examiners, haven't we!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So basically I have to write and then learn answers to questions that I won't get asked.
WHAT A WASTE OF MY TIME.

*Deep breaths* Ok, I'm calm. *Breathe in....breathe out....* GOD I get so pissed off at my Spanish teachers sometimes! They don't make any sense, usually they're really nice, and then sometimes they just turn evil. For no apparent reason! Can you get smilies on LJ? I need that one off MSN, you know the red-faced glaring one...heh

But, on the bright side, Jen has given me the last tape of Season 2 of the X-Files which means I'm almost on Season 3!!!! SEASON 3! It's shocking. Although it has taken me quite a while to get here when you think about it, I've known Jen since like Year 11 and I've only just gotten addicted to the X-Files XD I am addicted though. This I must confess. It's shameful, I know, but I am addicted.

Ooooh God I need to book my Yellow Fever injection. Getting the dates for our orals today is good because it means I can book the jab [[ theoretically, although I'm still not sure how to work it in, since the French orals only leave me 1 more week of May...=S ]] But I'm kinda nervous to..not sure why! Haha maybe part of the reason is that I have no idea where the clinc is so I'm gonna have to ring them up and be like "Hi, I'd like to book a yellow fever injection...yes Thursday's fine...um, by the way, where the hell are you?"
I doubt they'll be very impressed.
I need to buy the malarone tablets too....lol I've had the prescription from Dr Wise for about 3 months and still haven't gone and bought them xD But I do now have money in my wallet, so I could theoretically. And I need to give the cheque to Miss Stanley for my Gambia payments from 4th December to 5th March lol! Yeah, I got just a little behind...Which is partly my fault for being lazy, and partly the bank's fault for being annoying with processing times and cheque books etc. But, the blame was mostly mine. Whoops.

Oh dear, I think this entry may be breaking the record for longest ramble ever posted on LJ! (By me, that is.) Is it obvious I've had no social life for the past fortnight?

Clouds and Bananas [Mar. 20th, 2007|07:07 pm]
[Current Mood |busy]
[Current Music |Everybody Dance Now! *TUNE*]

Just now I was standing in the kitchen and heard a rather strange noise, like someone scraping the strings of a violin. I knew my sister was practising her violin, so went into the dining room to see what she was doing; to find her - and this is not an odd turn of phrase, I mean it quite literally - playing her violin with a banana.
Yes, a banana.

[[Earlier, walking home from the Co-op]]
Eleanor: Those clouds are very prettyful. *Makes lip-smacking munching noises*
Me: o_O Okay, this diet must be really getting to you if you're actually wanting to eat /clouds/.
Eleanor: Mmm, the cloudy goodness! *More lip-smacking*
Me: ...

Oh my poor sister, not being able to eat wheat or sugar. Well, the wheat she's not that bothered about, but the sugar is another matter. Though she has admitted that she still eats it, despite knowing perfectly well that it makes her feel really sick and bloated and ill. It just tastes too damn good!

(I come in, wearing earrings shaped like keys)
Mum: Oooh, I like your keys! Do they open anything?
Me: I dunno, I haven't tried.
Eleanor: They open my heart *hamster smile*

We were making maps today of where everyone's going to university, and I put everyone's subjects on mine aswell. Kess, where are you going & what are you studying? I know you've had 6 offers but I can't keep up with decisions etc!
I'm going to put my map up on the wall =) *sigh* Goodness me, I'm getting nostalgic about the good times when we were all together, and they aren't even over yet!

Anyway, enough of this nonsense, I've got 2 oral exams to prepare for. Tchao everyone! (That's Brazilian Portuguese, doncha know, which I was learning yesterday. Don't ask.)

Choir and Quotes [Mar. 17th, 2007|09:24 pm]

[Current Music |The All-American Rejects =D]

Regional competition for the National Music for Youth thingy today - the performance was okay I guess, not our best but not our worst! We had to do a lot of hanging around, which I wasn't happy about. But at least it's over now!

[[ Yesterday ]]
Me: I understand. About your phone charger and the balsamic vinegar.
Eleanor: Aah. Why?
Me: Because I was just doing the washing up.

If you knew about the phone charger and the balsamic vinegar, that exchange would make perfect sense! As it is, I can't be bothered to explain, so you'll have to just laugh at the randomness xD

[[This evening]]
My dad: Oh darling, Tarquin's made an inept lasagna bed - Letitia's terribly upset!

Again, given context, this makes sense....actually no, I take that back, even with context it makes no sense at all! lol!

Still haven't replied to uni offers.

I feel...kind of odd.
I've only seen Kris Priest twice in my life: the first time was at a 6th Form party last year, he was wearing a silly costume like everyone else, and trying his luck with all the girls (incuding me, lol),  I was laughing at his lack of success, and he was telling me how important love is and that a good relationship can be the best thing in your life. The second time was today, when I saw him being driven past in a coffin. It's...sobering.
I'm not upset exactly, cos I mean I hardly knew the guy, except in that "friend-of-a-friend" kind of way, where you know their name and hear people talking about them but have little contact yourself. It's just difficult to put together the image in my head of a guy at a party trying to have a good time, and the image in front of my eyes of a flower-bedecked hurst.
I'm kinda sorry I came home when I did, cos the memorial had just finished and I would have liked to go talk to Fish and Steve and, y'know, just be there for them. But Catherine went to see them and I don't know if they would really have wanted to be crowded with people attempting to cheer them up. It's difficult to know how to support someone who's been bereaved, because everyone handles it differently, so I guess the important thing is just to be there and if they want the support, they can take it.
Hmm. I'm not sure what else to say; I don't know how to wrap up this entry.

RIP, Kris.

Makeoverrrr [Mar. 14th, 2007|10:26 pm]
Look everybody, I've just given my LJ a fun spring makeover! Colour scheme inspired by the interior of the Kristiansens' house (where we stayed in Norway) although not with quite the same effect...I think I liked the other layout without the sidebar better, but it's a lot of effort to change it back cos I'd have to re-do all the colours!
WELL DONE HANNAH FOR PASSING YOUR DRIVING TEST TODAY!!! =D Got a lift over to SBS with her at lunch, it was very exciting. Also skived French assistant this morning because a) Hannah wasn't there, and b) I ended up helping Issy with her art exam, making black paper cranes to go in her instalation. My origami skills leave much to be desired, but I think I did serve some kind of useful purpose. Had a nice catch-up chat with Issy as well, which was nice, cos I haven't spoken to her in aaaaaaages; it's nice to know what she's doing these days. Apparently she's leaving school in a couple of weeks and some time after Reading festival is going to Yorkshire to stay in a Buddhist monastery for no-one knows how long. How cool is that?? I'm really glad she's finally getting to do what she really wants, even though I'll miss her being around. But then I'd much rather not see her and know that she's off having a good time, than see her at school looking miserable every day!
I can't believe it's only a few months until I leave 6th form...like, leave school forever...I've spent my whole life in school, I can't imagine doing anything else! I mean, I know I'm just gonna roll straight from 6th form into university, so I'm not exactly abandoning academia, but it's just odd..exciting, but also odd. And perhaps a little daunting? Can't wait for the summer holidays, I'm so sick of working non-stop and being stressed all the time. Grr! In a way going to Norway has made things worse, cos even though I had a great time, it's now even harder to get back to the grind, I've literally got so much to do...*cries* So lots of lovely lovely work! Hooray!

Hei! [Mar. 11th, 2007|04:06 pm]
[Current Location |Boring England =(]

I'm supposed to be doing Spanish key questions right about now, which I cleverly forgot to take with me to Norway *bangs head on desk* but I found a quote on a bit of paper I was about to throw away so thought I'd post it to waste some time. It's from a few days ago but hey!

(( I point out that in Feng Shui 4 is the number of death; my family and my grandma both live at #4 houses ))
Dad [Justin]: So what does 44 make? We've got 2 deaths opposing eachother, so longevity all round! This is Feng Justin.

Heh.
So ja, I've just got back from Norway =D It was muy muy fun! We went tabogganing (sp?) and cross-country skiing and had barbecued sausages on a frozen lake in the fog...well I didn't have any sausages, but I didn't care it was cool! It only actually snowed once or twice, but there was snow already on the ground when we arrived - not too deep in most places, 3 inches maybe, but up on the hillside where we were skiing some of the drifts were well over a foot deep.
And I learnt some Norwegian, which is funky! Me and Kristine did an exchange, I taught her some French and she taught me some Norwegian. And we both spoke some Spanish, which was unexpected but cool!

Hmm. I need to do work. Darnit! Ciao then everybody *waves* =)

It's over =( [Feb. 4th, 2007|11:33 pm]
[Current Mood | tired]
[Current Music |One Day More...of course!]

I can't believe Les Mis is finished! I mean, it's probably not as wierd for me as it is for the cast members who've been rehearsing since September, but it's still odd! I feel like for the past week I've just been sucked in to a sort of cocoon of Les Mis; now I'm returning to the real world and it's really strange!
And it was, might I add, the best school production EVER! Come on, we got a standing ovation every night except Wednesday! In fact we got TWO on Saturday, cos there was an encore and they stood up again to applaud that! *GET IN*
Although Tom did blow all the lights during the curtain call, so we had to save his ass on the spotlights by putting them both on really wide so between them they covered the stage...lol xD Still, better for all the lights to blow during the curtain call on the last night of the show than in the middle of a performance, eh? (( Love you Tom! )) I challenge Miss Robertson to beat that. I *challenge* her. But, let's face it, she'll never manage it, because Les Mis RULED THE WORLD!
MWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
Catherine's got lots of photos (( well, Catherine got Hannah McB to take lots of photos on her behalf during the second act heh )) so everybody will have to look and be amazed at the amazingness. And I've got some (( probably illegal )) recordings of a few of the songs, they're so cool! =D I wish we could have videoed it...but that would have meant buying the rights or getting sued, neither of which are within the school's budget =( Never mind, I'm happy with it =)
And back to school tomorrow...ugh. With a cold, dagnabbit! Yeah, being stuck in an airless hall with a load of actors who've probably been passing round their germs since last autumn and more dust on those lights than you can shake a fist at has finally got to me. Lol I had a singing lesson today and...yes. Chest voice, fine. Middle voice, touch-and-go. Head voice, off the map completely. I was struggling to hit a B. Ahem.

Let me know if anything exciting has happened in the world since last Sunday, will you?

my mind at night [Jan. 21st, 2007|09:39 pm]
[Tags|]
[Current Mood |creative]
[Current Music |The Circle of Life =D]

I've just remembered a VERY odd dream that I had the other night, which I feel I ought to share in case anybody can shed light on the bizarreness...
Well, it was kinda bitty, like dreams always are, I do remember something about Elijah Wood being in a film in which he plays a really young character (like, early teens, possibly younger..) and the fact that he smoked so much meant that he was able to do a falsetto better...and everybody was raving about 'How does he manage to play such a young character so convincingly??' And then I told my dad about the smoking and he disapproved highly. The REALLY disturbing bit was the costume; I can only remember one bit in which he was wearing what looked suspiciously like a Boy Scout uniform...oh yes, the knee-length shorts, and tucked in shirt, and big socks.... ** scarred **
There was also another bit where we all went to a boarding school or something (I know Naomi was there, I can't remember specifically who else, but lots of girls) and it was in a castle thing and we had a room in a turret-like..um..turret? With a big 4-poster bed with green embroidered covers. ?
Oooh and then we were in a kind of theme park, a little a la Disneyland (possibly a result of the Disneyland conversation I had on the bus the other day) only everyone had to be in character like Medieval people...and Naomi and I were sneaking into the main castle for some mischievous purpose which I have now forgotten, and had to not get caught - but we were, and there were tourists watching so the guards were obliged to put us in prison to keep up the act...And suddenly my dad was with us (?) and he made sure the guard put the three of us in a cell that had a trapdoor in it with a ladder leading outside so we could escape. Unfortunately the person in the cell next to us did not have this advantage; gloating followed.
And that's all I can remember/can be bothered to relate. Well, I could tell you about the other dream I had involving a battle between rival skateboarding gangs in an abandoned parking tower, which I escaped by being kidnapped by the villain who, incidentally, may well have been Bill Nighy. But then you really wouldn't ever be able to look at me and still think I'm remotely sane.
So the lesson here is, I think, to avoid castles - regardless of how frivolous your errand. And definately avoid Elijah Wood in boy scout shorts. Yes, definately steer clear of that.

odd things [Jan. 21st, 2007|09:21 pm]
So I found out about Second Life in the Guardian today...to be honest I'm surprised I hadn't heard about it before, I've come across lots of similar things before... But I'm in love with the fact that the Front National are trying to extend their campaign into the virtual universe, which responded by holding a massive protest and throwing exploding pigs at their HQ *rotfl* Rock on, citizens of Second Life!
I've tried getting an account to see what it's all about, but you have to download it and my dad's not here so I don't want to download anything in his absence in case the computer explodes or something. But I did fix my iRiver, yey!!! *happy weeza*

And in other news, I hit a G in my singing lesson today - a G!!!!!!! This is unprecedented people!! I should really practice more, then maybe I'd actually be hitting higher notes every week more often lol xD

School tomorrow. Murgh. I've just had a 4-day weekend and I can't be bothered to go anywhere, although I am getting kinda sick of being cooped up in the house! It'll be nice to see everyone and socialise, but not to actually do work... =(

Oh dear. Kess just nudged me. It's only been a fortnight!
So. Update. Umm....
Ooh I'm going shopping tomorrow in the January sales in Oxford!! Yey! Although I was in Oxford looking round the sales avec wee Jen on Wednesday so I happen to know there isn't much...=S Never mind, it's the looking that counts ;)
In other news, I have my first singing lesson in well over a month on Sunday (( hehe )) should be interesting as I've almost forgotten how to sing! But I think I may have found my head voice (!!) so that's nice! Sounds rubbish though so I really need the coaching!
Uh yeah so that's about it! Ooh and I've finished Chapter 7 of Anima Italiana, that will probably mean nothing to most people, but to me it's exciting! Though Jen hasn't edited it yet so...

Anyway there you go Kess, I updated!

Quotes heeeeeeee [Dec. 23rd, 2006|07:14 pm]
I apologise if I have already posted these. Never mind.

"Oops! I keep showering you with cheese." - My mum

"Don't touch them or you'll be cursed forever, HAHARGH! Or something like that." - Leah, on the rock piles at Volcano

"Plus, minus, Chevron." - Uncle Mike

"Who's gonna give a cardigan to a rabbit in Hilo?" - Frossy

"Handcuff that koala!" - My mum

"That sounds just like my sister, who had a gall bladder." - Ah Mah

"Cow wee! My favourite kind of wee!" - Eleanor

Hehehehe. Btw if anyone has any ridiculous or otherwise unfortunate photos they would like to send me to accompany the quotes in my shiny new quote book, then please do. I would be much obliged.

Oh. My. God.

I'VE HAD AN OFFER FROM OXFORD.

How the hell did I manage that?? Admittedly it's from Oriel, which wasn't even on my shortlist, but the Russian tutor is the same woman who teaches at Jesus (and with whom I had one of my Russian interviews) and most of my lessons will probably be at the Taylorian anyway. Let's just hope it's not too full of hooray henries who are only going cos it owns more rowing boats than any other college.....

Aaand IT'S THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS! Woop woop! Lol Mrs Morris' 8-year-old daughter was in class with us today, she's a bit of a legend. (You know when you shorted 'legend' to just 'lej'...how do you spell it?? Ledge? Leg? Lege? Lej? None of those spellings seem to work! If anyone has better knowledge on this than me then please do enlighten me.)

Good on ya, mate
You're the best looking one of the bunch
Though you're often forgotten...
You're quite proud of who you are

Woo! Rock on New Zealand!
I'm very disappointed that for every question there were only 4 possible answers - which would suggest they were judging between Britain, Australia, NZ and the USA. HELLO there are loads more English-speaking countries in the world!! Canada? India? Loads of African countries? Maybe they're going for places where English is the only official national language...*shrug*
Never mind, I'm happy with New Zealand =)
